Getting Started in Freelancing: How to Find and Convert Your First Clients

Hi guys and welcome back to the Blog. Last week in a Post I told you how you can earn Rs.50000/- per month from freelancing? In that Post, I told you 5 ways of freelancing, which are also listed on your screen. And I also told you, how much I pay my team for these 5 ways for their freelancing services.

I was asked a very prominent question in the comments section of that Post. Can you tell us, where we can get our first freelancing client? So, how do we get freelancing work as a beginner? Because this question was asked by many students, I reached out to my team, my editors, and my freelancers and that made me understand 2 things.

Introduction.

  1. Freelancing as a viable income source.
  2. Teasing the topic of finding your first freelancing client.

First thing, many people will suggest you that You can do freelancing by going through Fiverr app. But my editor gave me this feedback that this app works for those people who already have some experience. The second thing is, the person who is a freelancer beginner the best way for those who are starting to reach out to clients is called e-mailing.

The Importance of Finding the Right Client.

  • Emphasizing the significance of client selection.
  • Setting the stage for the criteria to consider.

Now, you'll laugh at me and will say, we know how to approach clients by sending them emails. What is new in this? Today, in this post, how to do cold emailing correctly, I will explain this in 3 steps. The first would be to find the clients, the second would be to send them an email The third would be to convert the client so that the deal is yours.

Criteria for Choosing the Right Client.

  • Explaining the four critical criteria: reach, growth, paying capacity, and need.
  • Elaborating on each criterion with real-world examples.

My team has helped me a lot to give inputs for all these points. So let us start off with the very first point, which is finding the right client. So, here we take an example, Suppose you are a graphic designer who knows how to design thumbnails. And I am a content creator, I am a client of yours who can take your service.

Effective Cold Emailing: Getting Started.

  • Introducing the concept of cold emailing.
  • Outlining the three essential steps: finding clients, sending emails, and converting clients.

So at this time, if you have to pitch me, you have to consider 4 criteria in it. Firstly, what is my reach? This means, how many followers and how many subscribers are on my social media account? The number that my team told me, that was 30k to 40k subscribers. This means when a creator has these many subscribers generally, then they start outsourcing this work.

How to Find the Email of a Client or Creator.

  • Revealing strategies for locating contact information.
  • Sharing insights on where creators typically list their emails.

The second factor will be growth, There is a website called socialblade.com By visiting this website, you can see the trend analysis of any creator. What is the growth of my subscribers and views for the full month? This website is totally free, in this, you will see below, the graph of my subscribers or my views.

Crafting an Irresistible Subject Line.

  • Exploring the importance of subject lines.
  • Providing sample subject lines that pique curiosity.

That graph will show you whether I am currently in the growing stage. As a creator, I will only hire someone when I'm on the growth trajectory, If I see something in future then I will invest. The third is paying capacity. Watch the last 10 videos of any creator and check his/her description. If they have given any brand links, that means they have got this video sponsored by some brand.

They would have been paid for that. The second thing, check their 'About' section, if they doing YouTube full-time or they doing a side job. Why is it necessary? Because if I do a side job or get a sponsorship deal, only then I will have the paying capacity that I can onboard any editor or graphic designer.

The fourth thing is Need. Do I need your services? Do you think there are some shortfalls in my thumbnails? If my thumbnails are not professionally designed, while all my competitors, or the thumbnails of the rest of the channels in the category are professionally designed. That means, there is a need gap.

This is done because if some work is being done by my competitors, then I will already have an eye on it. It means that I have the need or requirement for that work. So these are the 4 criteria by which you find any creator or client. The second part is, e-mailing the clients. Now this is a very interesting thing, because in this, I will tell you the first part and you will have to make a promise to me that after knowing this, you will not do this against me.

So first of all we discuss that, how to find the email of any client or creator? Well, being a creator, I will tell you a secret, whose email is the most important to me? Of course, brands, who are collaborating with me and that is my source of income. If you are a freelancer and you email me where brands also email me, so my chances to check your email increase.

Now the question comes, that this email, where brands email, where do they get it from? Please you will not use this against me. So first let me tell you where do YouTube creators have their email? At the bottom of their About section, you see a show email option. In which that email is visible after just verifying.

What happens is that many people run the YouTube app from their phones. They don't know that because you can't access it through your app. If you do it in desktop mode in your phone's browser, or directly open YouTube on the browser on your laptop. so this part will be visible to you. Similarly, if you are reaching out to an Instagram creator.

Either the e-mail will be found in his/her bio or there will be a linktree or their link, if you scroll down by clicking on it, you will find their email below. Now, you have the email, but what will you write? The most important thing in this is the subject line, I get about 50 emails a day. Out of those 50 emails, which email will I click and open, it depends on what is written in their subject line.

If your subject line invokes curiosity in me, there is a high likelihood that I will click and open it. So, I'll show you some samples, here are some emails that came in the past few months. Whether I have responded or not this will give you a fair idea, of how to make the subject line attractive and interesting.

Let's talk about the content of the email, I know that you will automatically draft and email because ChatGPT has made everything easy. But you should keep the email very short, and must mention 4 things in it. The first is your experience level, if you have done any work before, then definitely tell about your clients or your work.

The second thing is your commercials, It should have a range, a rough estimate of, how much do you charge for your services? The third is sample work, If you're reaching out to me for a thumbnail, attach some samples so that I can check the quality of your work. The fourth is an observation which is the most important.

The competitor analysis I told you about my thumbnails, which are not professional but those of competitors are If you observe that thing and present it in the email, see what others have done and what I have done? So, I am more likely to onboard you, because you have already done an industry analysis. It is important to tell these 4 things, what will I do by knowing how old are you, are you in school or college? You know my first editor was a school student, and I didn't even know it until I onboarded him.

So don't worry about these things. Mentioning these 4 things makes the email attractive. The third and final point is to convert the client. Here, my team has given 3 basic tips to convert that deal so that they can onboard you for the services. The first tip is, if you have to work for your first client even for a small amount, then definitely do it.

The second point he told that before reaching out to any person, you must edit one of their videos as a sample. Edit only a 1-minute portion whether it is a reel or a video, but must send a portion of their video after editing it better. Similarly, the thumbnail they've made before improve that thumbnail and send it to them.

So these are some points, on how to get freelance work as a beginner. Apart from this, if you want to see the video of Rs.50000/- per month. so do check out this video, I truly hope that this video helps you and solves your doubts. Thank you for watching this guys!
